The story
How Ray ended up pulling dents for a living
Ray had been around cars his whole life before a body shop showed him paintless dent repair back in 2014. Watching a dent come out with nothing but light, patience and a rod behind the panel, no sanding, no spray booth, he was hooked. He spent the next stretch learning to read a panel properly, and then set out on his own.
What started as evenings and weekends turned into a full trade, all of it by word of mouth around Yuba City and Marysville. These days it is still Ray on the tools, with his family keeping the schedule and answering the messages. That is on purpose. Small means you talk to the person doing the work, and the person doing the work cares how it turns out.
Why paintless, not repaint
Your factory paint is the part worth protecting
When a body shop fixes a small dent, the standard path is to sand it down, fill it, prime it and spray fresh paint over the spot. Done well it looks fine at first. But you have replaced the paint the factory baked on with a patch that was matched by eye and cured in a booth, and over the years those two age differently in the sun.
Paintless repair never opens that door. We read the dent with a reflection board, reach in behind the panel, and move the metal back to where it sat when the car was new. The original finish, and any paint warranty riding on it, stays intact. For a door ding, a crease, or a car full of hail, that is almost always the better trade: faster, easier on your wallet, and better for resale because nothing was ever resprayed.
